Summer School Information 2018-2019

Outlined below is Our Lady of Mercy Academy's Summer School Policy

Parents will be notified if their daughter fails a course and/or a New York State Regents exam by their daughter's teacher as soon as grades are complete. If a student fails a course in June, she must attend Summer School and receive a passing grade to make up the credit. Our Lady of Mercy Academy's passing grade and a passing NYS Regents grade is a 65.

o  If a student failed only the Regents exam, but passed the course, she has the option to retake the regents in August.  It is strongly recommended your daughter reviews for the exam. You must come in to register for the exam during Summer School Registration

o If a student failed the course, but passed the Regents exam, she would have to complete the full Summer School course with the option to re-take the Regents exam if desired.

Parents must come to the Office of School Counseling on June 27th or June 28th  between the hours of 8:00am-2:00pm for Summer School Registration.   It is important to note that OLMA does not offer Summer School. You can obtain and print the necessary form that OLMA will need on our website under the Summer School link. Please be prepared with your daughter's Student ID Number, which can be found in her Naviance and/or Netclassroom Account.

You MUST know where your daughter will be attending Summer School at the time of registration at OLMA. If you change the location of where your daughter is attending Summer School, you MUST notify Mrs. Piasio immediately.

·         Summer School Options:

o   Attend Summer School at Public School

o   Attend Summer School at a Catholic High School (St. Anthony's, St. Dominic's, St. John the Baptist, or St. Francis Preparatory are the only Catholic High Schools to offer a Summer School Program)

·         All students requiring Summer School must attend and pass, or risk being unable to return to OLMA.

·         It is strongly encouraged that you contact Office of School Counseling or visit the website of the district/school where your daughter will be attending Summer School in order to expedite the process and obtain any additional forms you may need.

·         Upon completion of Summer School, a transcript must be sent directly to the Office of School Counseling to the attention of Mrs. Piasio. If a transcript is not received your daughter will not be able to continue on grade level for that subject(s) at the start of the school year.
