Dear Parents and Guardians of the Class of 2024,

Congratulations and welcome! We received your registration form and fee, which means your daughter is officially registered at Our Lady of Mercy Academy. We are excited to start the on-boarding process with your family and appreciate your patience as we work to collect several important documents.

Please read the following information carefully, and be mindful of various deadlines:   

The following online registration is due by Friday, February 14, 2020:


c  Register your daughter for her OLMA Placement Tests taking place on Saturday, February 29, 2020. More information and an online registration form may be found at

o   All incoming students are required to take the English and Math placement tests. Students may elect to take a World Language test. The results are used to ensure that students are appropriately placed in classes according to their demonstrated abilities.

o   Students may elect to register for the Scientific Research Methods/Eden I program online. Please be advised, this is an enrichment class with additional work that is graded, and is designed for highly motivated students who score 85% or higher on a science Regents prior to 9th grade.

o   The online registration will also request athletic past experience and future interest. Please sit with your daughter and complete this electronic registration together.

o   Students should report to OLMA for check-in no later than 8:15 AM, exams begin at 8:30 AM.

More information, including what to bring and student pickup times, will be provided via parent email after completion of the Placement Tests Registration. Families will be notified of class placement by May 1.

The following forms are included in this packet and due on Saturday, February 29, 2020:

Your daughter may bring the forms to OLMA when she arrives for her Placement Tests.

c  Financial Contract — Must be signed by parents/guardians of registered student

c  Academic Program Placement Form — Filled out by parents/guardians of registered student

c  Learning Accommodations Form — Must be filled out by everyone, regardless of need or lack thereof

c  Parental Release of Student Records — Please be sure to return this form to OLMA and not to current school

c  Physical Education Uniform Order Form— Order one of each item; additional items may be purchased in class

c  Emergency Care Card — Used by the nurse in case of emergency


The following information will be provided to students later this spring:


c  Health Examination Form — Required by the state; must be filled out by a physician and include immunizations

c  Flynn & O’Hara School Uniform Information — Recommended to visit local store for measurements

c  Band Program Registration Form — Early registration discount if submitted by June 30, 2020

c  Summer Reading List —Students choose from a selection of books

c  Dance Program Introduction — Information about the dance program and Dance Company auditions

c  Mercy Players Musical Auditions — Save the date for the last week of July/first week of August for auditions

c  Fall Sports Tryouts — Health clearances as well as tryout times and dates are the week of August 17

c  Sports Health Update — Required for all students participating in a sport and updated every season

Transportation Information

If you require bus transportation for your daughter, you must contact your local school district to obtain and submit a Request for Transportation Form. These forms must be submitted prior to April 1, 2020. The first day of school is Wednesday, September 9, 2020. Our typical school hours are 8:00 AM—3:00 PM. You are encouraged to follow up with the district to ensure they have received your form. Please also make sure that you are aware of your district’s late bus policy, as some districts require a quota based on registration for a late bus.  If you have any questions at all about transportation, please contact OLMA’s Transportation Coordinator, Mrs. Leibman, at (516) 921-1047 extension 118.  


Learning Accommodations

All students with an IEP seeking Special Education support through the Syosset School District must apply with the district by June 1, 2020, and provide paperwork to Our Lady of Mercy Academy by July 15, 2020..


New Family Orientation & Convocation is on the evening of Wednesday, August 26, 2020. More details will be provided as the date approaches, but parents and incoming students should plan to attend and enjoy a BBQ with us. 


New Student Orientation for incoming ninth-graders is on the first day of school—Wednesday, September 9, 2020. This is the first day for students to take the bus and wear their uniforms.
