Feast of the Baptism of Jesus: end of Christmas season

Jan 13, 2019

Today is the feast of the Baptism of Jesus and the formal conclusion of the Christmas season in the church. Let us reflect with the prayer the church offers us at mass:

" For in the waters of the Jordan
you revealed with signs and wonders a new Baptism,
so that through the voice that came down from heaven
we might come to believe in your Word dwelling among us,
and by the Spirit’s descending in the likeness of a dove
we might know that Christ your Servant
has been anointed with the oil of gladness
and sent to bring the good news to the poor."

May our own anointing and baptism send us "to bring the good news to the poor" too! Be mindful today of your own baptism date, and celebrate it!

*Baptism is about new birth. We are mindful this week that we will be participating as a school and as a nation in the MARCH FOR LIFE on Jan 18th. Please pray for our students as they advocate for the voiceless and unborn. And "authentically witness to our catholic values" of the defense and protection of all human life from conception to natural death.
